Volleyball Falls To Georgia Southern

Final Stats

STATESBORO, Ga. - Western Carolina lost its second consecutive match Saturday evening to Georgia Southern, 3-1 in Southern Conference volleyball action at Hanner Fieldhouse.

The Eagles claimed the first game 30-20 before Western Carolina rebounded to claim a 30-27 victory in game two. Georgia Southern claimed the victory with 30-22 and 30-19 victories in the final two games.

The Catamounts (5-6, 2-1) were led by Christy Attebery who finished with 15 kills and 14 digs. Sara Komosinski also recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs while Bri Milan-Williams finished with 33 assists and 16 digs.

Three different Eagles (4-5, 2-0) recorded double-digit kills in the victory, led by Martina Veiglova who finished with 21. Susan Bindshedler recorded 10 kills and a .391 hitting percentage while Camila Schmitz-Rower finished with 13 kills. Each of the three also recorded double-digit digs, with Schmitz-Rower finishing with 17, Bindshedler with 12 and Veiglova with 14. Amanda Brooks also recorded a double-double for Georgia Southern with 29 assists and 14 digs.

Western Carolina next plays Wednesday, September 26 when it travels to Chattanooga for a 7:00 p.m. start. Georgia Southern returns to action tomorrow afternoon when it hosts Chattanooga at 2:00 p.m.
