Final Stats

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Western Carolina's Christy Attebery had 20 kills and 25 digs and Pamela Stein had a triple-double (18 kills, 22 digs and 10 block assists) to lead the Catamounts to a 3-2 Southern Conference volleyball victory over Chattanooga Wednesday night at Maclellan Gym.

WCU (6-6 overall, 3-1 SoCon) won the first game 30-23 and UTC (6-4, 1-3) won the next two games 30-23 and 30-24 before the Catamounts scratched out a 30-24 win in game four. That forced a deciding game, which the Catamounts won handily 15-4. "We came out and played strong in game one," said Head Coach Michelle Hansen. "It was great to see us battle back after losing games two and three, taking game four and completely dominating game five. It was a big win for us because it was our first road win. I think we just needed to get over that hump."

After WCU took the first game, the Lady Mocs roared back with solid wins in games two and three behind Krouse (10 kills) and Buck (eight kills). The Lady Mocs were down 16-10 in game four and rallied to an 18-all tie before Western Carolina pulled away. In the fifth game, WCU took a 7-1 lead and never looked back.

Four players had double-digit kills for the Catamounts, Attebery, Pamela Stein (18), Sara Komosinski (17) and Stefanie Peters (10). Six Catamounts had double-digit digs, paced by Attebery and Peters. Bri Milan-Williams had 59 assists and Stein was in on 10 blocks for the triple-double. WCU put down 26 blocks, a new WCU record.

WCU held Chattanooga to just a .125 hitting percentage for the game, its second lowest average for the season.

Western will return to league action on Saturday (Sept. 29) at 2:00 p.m. when it hosts Furman. The match, originally set to be played in WCU's Reid Gym, will be played in the Ramsey Center.
