Final Stats
Greenville, S.C. - The Western Carolina University volleyball team dropped to 14-6
overall and 6-2 in the Southern Conference after a 32-30, 30-21, 30-18
loss to Furman Wednesday night at Timmons Arena.
Western Carolina was led by sophomore Stefanie
Peters with 10 kills and 12 digs as well as junior Sara Komosinski's 10 kills and eight
digs. Komosinski posted a team-high .400 hitting percentage for the match.
The Lady Paladins were led by senior Abby Simon's 15 kills and 10 digs.
Simon, this week's Southern Conference Player of the Week, recorded a .464
hitting percentage in the three-game match. Junior Amber Montague (Plano, Texas) joined Simon in double-digit kills
with 12 while adding 11 digs.
"Furman came out and played really well," said head coach Angell Benson. "We just need to play much better this weekend than we did tonight if we're going to win."
The Catamounts host College of Charleston on Saturday (Oct. 12) at 7 pm on the first day of Parents' Weekend. They face The Citadel on Sunday at 2 pm to finish off the weekend.
