Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel volleyball team was unable to handle the hard-hitting Western Carolina Catamounts on Saturday in McAlister Fieldhouse. WIth the win, the Catamounts move to 22-10, the team's most victories since tallying 23 in 1998. WCU is now 13-6 in the SoCon.
Tricia Eble led the Catamounts with 20 kills, three blocks and a .529 hitting percentage. Sara Komosinski tallied 13 kills and a .522 attack percentage. Michelle Gorton led the team with 12 digs and Shari Harder recorded all of the team's assists (40).
Stefanie Farris led The Citadel with 14 kills, while Samantha Parisi followed with 13 kills on 36 attempts. Parisi led the team with 16 digs, while Farris added 15 to earn the double-double.
The Catamounts built momentum in each game, which led to the victory. WCU took the match 30-20, 30-22, and 30-25.
The Catamounts travel across town to play the College of Charleston Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. The Bulldogs will host their last match Sunday at 1 pm when they take on Chattanooga.
