Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina's women's volleyball team finished a day of competition with one loss and one victory. The team lost its first match, 3-1, to Middle Tennessee State at the school's tournament in Murfreesboro, TN. The Lady Cats won the first game, 30-23, before losing their next three (21-30, 25-30, 30-32). WCU was without starters Stefanie Peters and Robyn Everly in the match, but the two returned for the second match of the day.
Western defeated Chicago State in their second contest of the afternoon, 3-1. The Cats took the first game (30-21), lost the second (20-30) and wrapped it up by winning the next two (30-23, 30-25). The team combined for 87 digs for the second match in a row. Harder added 38 assists in the match.
Saturday, Western is set to face Evansville at 9 am and Purdue at 4:30 pm.
