Cullowhee, N.C. -
For the second time in as many days, a baseball game between 29th-ranked Western Carolina and UNC Asheville was postponed due to inclement weather. The teams managed to squeeze in one inning of play, before the game was halted at 7:10 due to lightening. Then, the field was deemed unplayable at 8:26 pm after a 50 minute rain storm. No date has been set at this time to makeup yesterday's or tonight's games.
Western Carolina, who is in first place in the Southern Conference with a 13-2 record, will return to league play this weekend with a three-game set at UNC Greensboro, who is 7-5 and in third place in the conference. First pitch Friday (April 11) is set for 7 pm and can be heard on WWCU (90.5 FM) or via the internet at www.catamountsports.com. Saturday's game is set for a 1 pm start, as is Sunday's, which will also be broadcast on WWCU (90.5 FM) and catamountsports.com.
