Final Stats
Atlanta, Ga. - The Western Carolina volleyball team fought hard to stay alive, but lost in the end to #24 Wisconsin, 15-30, 17-30, 22-30. The match ended their stay at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The Catamounts came away with three losses and now stand at 7-6 overall.
Senior Sara Komosinski led the Cats with eight kills on 24 attacks. She added two aces, four digs and three blocks in the match and led the team with 12 total points, making the all-tournament team for her performance over the weekend. SoCon Player of the Week Shari Harder led Western with nine digs, while dishing out 20 assists.
The Badgers were led by Lisa Zukowski with 11 kills and Jill Odenthal who posted 10 kills and only one error on 21 attacks for a .429 hitting percentage. Zukowski also led the team defensively with 11 digs, while Maria Carlini posted a team-high seven block assists.
The Catamounts begin their Southern Conference schedule on the road as they face Furman on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 7 pm in Greenville, S.C.
