Cullowhee, N.C. - The Furman Paladins came out strong in Southern Conference women's tennis action and completed the 7-0 sweep of Western Carolina at the Reid Gym Courts Wednesday afternoon. The Catamounts fall to 5-8 overall and are 0-5 in the SoCon, while Furman improves to 8-7, 3-0.
The Paladins claimed all three doubles matches with WCU's Rocio Perez and Erin Johnson taking their match to an 8-5 finish at the number one position - best for the day. In singles action, Kristin Cotton led the Cats by winning seven of her games, but fell to Marti Morris, 6-4, 6-3.
The Catamounts are set to host Wofford and Tusculum this weekend with the Terriers coming to Cullowhee on Saturday (Mar. 27) and the Pioneers playing Western on Sunday (Mar. 28). Both matches are set to start at 1:00 pm.
