Davidson, N.C. - The Davidson women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches Wednesday afternoon as the host Wildcats defeated Western Carolina, 7-0. Due to late afternoon rain, the match was moved indoors to Knobloch Tennis Center.
In doubles action, the Fillnow twins (#1) earned an 8-2 win over Western's Rocio Perez and Kristin Munn. Sarah Borkowski and Erin Moakler, teaming up for just the second time all year at third doubles, claimed an 8-0 victory over Elysa Montgomery and April Yount.
Davidson (14-7, 6-1 SoCon) then won all six singles matches in straight sets to post its third consecutive shutout against league competition. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 6-1 in the conference standings for just the second time in school history. WCU is now 5-11 overall and 0-7 in the SoCon.
Western Carolina will be on the road this Saturday as the Catamounts travel to UNC Greensboro. That match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
