Cullowhee, N.C. - Playing its third match in as many days, the Western Carolina tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to a red-hot Davidson Wildcat squad, now winners of six straight, Sunday afternoon on the Courts at Reid Gymnasium.

The Catamounts (3-7, 0-2 SoCon) lost the doubles point as Davidson (10-3, 3-0) swept the three spots. Lindsey Powel and Kim Whelan (#3) posted an 8-0 win over April Yount and Susanna Sjokvist. Sisiter Kelly and Meghan Fillnow (#1) recorded an 8-1 mark over Trish Hanson and Katherine Ptak. Western's Kristin Cotton and Ashley Harris battled Meggie Patterson and Kelsey Linville, but would eventually fall, 8-5.

In singles, Davidson's Fillnow (#4), Kate Levitt (#5) and Rebecca Jameson (#6) did not give up a game in any of their matches, winning each 6-0, 6-0. Patterson (#2) only lost two game in a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ptak. Fillnow (#1) edged Hanson 6-3 in the first set before claiming a 6-0 decision in the second set. Linville (#3) closed out the shutout with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Cotton.

Western Carolina returns to action Thursday (Mar. 17) at Wofford. Match time in Spartanburg, S.C., is set for 3:00 pm.
