Led by the sixth career double-double by freshman Katie Hennessey, the Western Carolina women's volleyball team earned its first, three-game sweep of the season as the Catamounts down the Wofford Terriers, 3-0 (30-24, 30-26, 30-22) Saturday afternoon in Southern Conference action.
Hennessey recorded 11 kills while dishing out 23 assists to tally the lone double-tilt in the match. The freshman from North Richland Hills, Texas hit a career-best .643, committing just two errors on 14 total attacks.
Western junior Meredith Harmon paced the Catamounts with a match-high 12 kills with just one error on 21 total attacks for a .524 attack percentage, while senior Heather Koontz also reached double figures with 10 kills, adding eight digs.
As a team, Western hit .327 on the night which was the second highest percentage this season, second only to the collective .341 hit against Charlotte in the five-game, come-back victory.
Freshman Liz Rondone led WCU defensively, posting 17 digs in the winning effort.
Wofford (6-12, 1-8 SoCon) was led by ll kills and seven digs by Sarah Twitty, with Sarah Palmer adding one more dig for a team-high eight in the match.
Western next visits Furman on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
