Furman put two players in double figures and denied Western's bid to win back-to-back matches, downing the Catamounts in straight sets, 3-0 (30-20, 30-19, 30-19), Sunday afternoon at Alley Gym.
The loss drops Western to 6-20 on the year, 2-8 in the Southern Conference while Furman improved to 12-9, 8-2 in league action.
Furman hit a season-high .455 and out blocked the Catamounts 9-to-1 in the match.
Western was led by junior Meredith Harmon with 16 kills on a .433 attack percentage, giving the Villa Hills, Ky., native 12 double-digit kill matches this season. Freshman Katie Hennessey finished with seven kills and 24 assists, with her classmate, Liz Rondone, leading the way with 15 digs.
Furman was led by Kerry Wooten with 13 kills and Ally Hock with 10.
