CHARLESTON, S.C. - Meredith Harmon and Liz Rondone climbed up the career record charts in Western Carolina volleyball's (7-16, 2-6 SoCon) 3-0 (18-30, 9-30, 23-30) loss to College of Charleston (12-6, 7-1 SoCon) Thursday. The Catamounts host Elon at 4 p.m. Saturday in Reid Gym. Signage will be available to direct fans to the appropriate entrance for the match.

Harmon, a senior middle blocker, has not only entered into the 1,000-kill club she has also inched up to eighth place in the Catamount record books with 1,083 career kills. Rondone, who is a sophomore libero, cracked the 1,000-dig club and now takes up residence at seventh place with 1,163 digs. Harmon ended the match with College of Charleston with four kills and Rondone had 26 digs.

As a club, the Catamounts struggled on the road against College of Charleston. Western Carolina had 23 kills in the match but committed 24 errors. The Cougars got off to an 8-1 start to begin the first game of the match and though the Catamounts pulled within 9-5 thanks to a College of Charleston error Western Carolina could draw no closer.

Western Carolina battled through games two and three but couldn't overcome College of Charleston's balanced attack. The Cougars had 52 kills and committed just 17 errors for a .307 attack percentage. College of Charleston also had eight service aces.

Freshmen Ali Rook and Jelena Jakovljevic led the Catamounts with six kills a-piece. Setter Katie Hennessey had 19 assists.

Western Carolina played 179 matches in Reid Gym with a record of 113-66. The Catamounts took up full-time residence in the Ramsey Center in 1999 but still plays an occasional match in Reid Gym. The last time Western Carolina played in Reid was 1999.
