Hennessey Tallies Sixth Triple Double of Career; Catamounts fall to Chattanooga 3-1

Oct. 30, 2007

Box Score

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina sophomore Katie Hennessey continues to produce impressive numbers as the setter tallied a career-high 13 kills and notched the sixth triple double of her career and fourth this season. The Catamounts (8-22, 3-12 SoCon) as a team, however, could not parlay her performance into a win as the club fell 3-1 (30-26, 27-30, 21-30, 25-30) to Chattanooga (15-12, 11-3 SoCon) Tuesday in the Ramsey Center.

Hennesseey's triple double is her third in the last four matches. She ended the contest with 41 assists, 18 digs and her career-high 13 kills. She also had four service aces and three block assists.

Freshman Jelena Jakovljevic is also on a nice streak. The outside hitter has had double figure kills in her last seven matches. Against Chattanooga, Jakovljevic led both teams with 15 kills.

Catamount senior Meredith Harmon was the third player to notch double figure kills, ending the contest with 12. Harmon also had three block assists and a solo block.

Western Carolina came out in game one and put Chattanooga on its heels. The Catamounts dominated the game, forcing the Mocs to commit 11 costly errors to take the opening game. The squad built a 26-19 lead and held UTC at bay as a pair of attack errors by Chattanooga sealed the win for the Catamounts and was the tale of the first game.

Chattanooga, however, rallied its players and fought back to tie the match at one game a piece heading into halftime. The Mocs continued their dominance in games three and four. After committing 11 errors in game one, UTC had just 12 total in the last three games to aid in their victory.

Western Carolina was successful in the serve department, registering 12 service aces in the match. Hennessey's four aces led the Catamounts and Harmon and junior Liz McLauchlin each had three.

The Catamounts will take a few days off before hosting Furman in their final home match of the season at 7 p.m. November 6.
