SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Senior Meredith Harmon had a season-high 20 kills and sophomore libero Liz Rondone collected a season-high 31 digs in Western Carolina volleyball's (7-15, 2-5 SoCon) 3-2 (32-30, 30-26, 26-30, 16-30, 14-16) loss to Wofford (7-11, 1-5 SoCon) Saturday.

It was the first time this season the Catamounts had a game go to five, but unfortunately the club was on the losing end of the score. Western Carolina carried a 2-0 lead into the locker room but a scrappy Wofford team battled back to tie the game, winning the next two games which forced a game five.

At the half point of game five the two teams were locked at eight and Western Carolina got an ace from Rondone, a kill by Rondone and a Wofford error to push the lead to 11-8. The game would be tied two more times the last being a 12-12 knotting before a pair of Wofford kills would seal the game and the match for Wofford.

It was a tight game from the opening game as the two teams battled to a 30 all tie before a Wofford error and a Harmon kill secured the win for Western Carolina. Western Carolina looked to have the match well in hand winning game two as well, but Wofford came back to take the match, picking up its first Southern Conference win of the season.

Freshman Ali Rook notched her fourth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 12 digs. Setter Katie Hennessey's 42 assists was the second-most for the sophomore this season.

Western Carolina completes its road swing on Thursday when the club takes on College of Charleston. Match time is set for 5 p.m.
