Western Carolina Men's Golf Seventh after First Two Rounds at Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate

Savannah, Ga. - Western Carolina men's golf stands in seventh place after 36 holes at the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7.016-yard Savannah Quarters Country Club. Junior transfer Drew Miller leads the Catamounts in a tie for 29th after carding rounds of 74 and 77 on Monday to be in the clubhouse at 151.

Host Georgia Southern took a 10-stroke lead after the opening round and enters the final 18 holes on Tuesday with a five-stroke lead over Furman (575). Kennesaw State is third, four strokes in arrears of the Paladins at 579, followed by Francis Marion (592) and Old Dominion (596) rounding out the top five.

Miller opened with a two-over 74 before shooting a five-over 77 on the second 18 to stand tied for 29th out of the 75-golfer field. Senior Andres Cuenca, who ranks tied for ninth in terms of pars with 24 through 36 holes, opened with a 78, but rallied with a two-over 74 to stand tied for 34th entering Tuesday's final round.

Freshman Martin Summer carded a one-over 73 in the second round to advance into a tie for 37th, followed by sophomore Caleb Marsh in a tie for 46th with a two-round score of 154. Junior Ricky Stout posted the best opening round for the Catamounts at one-over, 73, but struggled on the second round with an 88 to stand tied for 70th with a two-round score of 161.

Playing as an individual, junior Cody Walker shot 157 through the first two rounds to stand tied for 56th overall.

The third and final round of the event will be played on Tuesday.
