CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina volleyball (3-18, 0-7 SoCon) continues to battle but came up short against Southern Conference rival Chattanooga (10-8, 2-4 SoCon), falling to the Mocs 3-0 (24-26, 18-25, 22-25) Sunday in the Ramsey Center.
It was a heated contest in the first set as Western Carolina and Chattanooga battled it out and was tied at 23. An error by both team knotted it up again at 24 but back-to-back kills by the Mocs' Courtney Barnes gave set one to Chattanooga.
Western Carolina struggled to find a balance in the second and third sets and had hitting percentages of .053 and .058 respectively. Overall the club hit .222 while Chattanooga posted a .222 attack percentage.
Rebecca Stoltz had seven kills in the match and Paloma Alvarez followed with six. Senior setter Katie Hennessey had 30 assists and also had 10 digs. Fellow senior Liz Rondone logged in 21 digs.
Western Carolina completes its home-stand on October 18 hosting Wofford. Match time in the Ramsey Center is set for 4 p.m.
