CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina volleyball (3-15, 0-5 SoCon) returned home for the first time in a month, hosting its first Southern Conference match of the season, and fell to Furman (12-3, 5-0 SoCon) 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, 13-25) Wednesday.
The Catamounts couldn't stop the balanced attack of the Paladins' Kelly Kirby and Natalie Braun who each had 10 kills for Furman. Three players for WCU, Carrie Minogue, Kara Lynzee Brooks and Rebecca Stoltz each had four kills in the match.
While Furman had a .341 attack percentage and just 12 errors, Western Carolina struggled with 22 errors on just 23 attacks. The Catamounts ended the match with a .011 attack percentage.
Senior setter Katie Hennessey had 15 assists and fellow senior libero Liz Rondone had 13 digs.
Western Carolina will host Samford in historic Reid Gym on Saturday. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
