LEXINGTON, Ky. - Western Carolina volleyball dropped its opening match of the season, falling 3-0 (19-25, 21-25, 15-25) to Florida International Friday at the Kentucky Invitational. The Panthers improve to 1-0 and the Catamounts fall to 0-1.

Senior Amanda Kerr led the club with 13 kills on 19 attacks with just one error for a .632 attack percentage. Setter Katie Hennessey had 26 assists.

The Catamounts played it close in the second game of the match. The score was tied at 17 and then 18 before FIU pulled ahead. Isadora Range had a service ace to give the Panthers a 19-18 advantage and the eventual win.

Western Carolina had a .117 hitting percentage while Florida International notched a .245 percentage.

The Catamounts return to action Saturday playing host Kentucky at 10 a.m. and Northwestern at 5 p.m.
