RADFORD, Va. - Western Carolina volleyball (2-5) picked up a pair of victories Saturday in day two of the Radford Invitational. The Catamounts defeated South Carolina State 3-1 and Coppin State 3-0.

It is the first pair of victories for new Head Coach Manuel Concepcion.

Senior Amanda Kerr led the club in the victory over South Carolina State with eight kills. Fellow senior Katie Hennessey recorded her second straight double double with 35 kills and 10 digs.

In the final match of the tournament, Western Carolina recorded its first shutout of the season, blanking Coppin State 3-0. Carrie Minogue and Amanda Chaparro each had 10 kills in the win.

Western Carolina plays its first home matches of the season beginning Friday, Sept. 11 hosting a home tournament.
