RALEIGH, N.C. - Being led by the duo of senior Brittany Lysik and freshman Caitlin Piechota, Western Carolina picks up its second victory of the day over the Campbell Camels 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-20) in the Midtown Classic Friday night on the campus of North Carolina State.
Western Carolina improves to 2-3 on the season, while Campbell falls to 2-4. Lysik - after earlier in the day setting a career high with 31 assists - improved on her personal best by dishing out 35 assists against the Camels. Piechota led the Catamounts in kills with 13 from the outside hitter position, adding three digs and two aces. Senior co-captain Carrie Minogue and junior Abbey Scroggins, both tallied nine kills.
"Just like earlier in the day, we did a great job of being balanced on offense," said head coach Karen Glover.
"The team chemistry was outstanding tonight. Everyone is playing with a lot of confidence right now."
There has been a schedule change regarding tomorrow's line up. Western Carolina will now take on the Badgers of Wisconsin at 10 am, followed by the host N.C. State Wolfpack at 2 pm. Both matches can be followed live via Gametracker at CatamountSports.com.
