BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Western Carolina Track & Field athlete Abraham Faison competed in day one of the 2012 USA Junior Championships Friday held on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Faison ran in the third heat and placed sixth in that heat. Faison placed 20th overall with his time of 14.47 – a personal best for the Saxapahaw, N.C., native. The top qualifying time was 13.59 by Devon Allen from Elite Athletics. In the 400-meter hurdles, Faison placed sixth out of seven competitors in the first section of the preliminaries – 11th overall – crossing the line in 55.09. Faison did not qualify for the finals in either event.
Tomorrow freshman Travis Alfaro will compete in the 10,000-meter run under the lights at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Live results for the meet can be found on the USA Track & Field website or the link on CatamountSports.com.
