Western Carolina Head Coach Mark Speir:
Opening Statement:
"Obviously, it was a very disappointing loss to a very good football team. I told the guys (in the locker room) that I'm still very proud of our men and what they've done to this point. But this was about as big of a being taken to the woodshed that I've been a part of in a while."

"Character shows up when things aren't going too well. We're disappointed as a coaching staff but we still have a lot to play for. We're proud of our players and proud of our coaching staff; so many good things have happened this year, but it's a hurt locker room. That's part of growing up and taking it to the next level."

On being ready for a game of this magnitude:
"We knew Chattanooga was a good football team, but (our) team hasn't been hit in the mouth like that this year. They just overwhelmed us; this is the biggest strongest team that we have played this year."

Western Carolina junior quarterback Troy Mitchell:
Overall thoughts on the game:
"The offense just couldn't move the ball. They did the same thing they showed on film. We just couldn't get any momentum offensively."

On the disappointment of the loss:
"It's disappointing, but we still have two more SoCon games so we need to come back and regroup and finish out the season."

Western Carolina senior linebacker Christon Gill:
On getting the younger players, team past the loss:
"We need everybody to come out tomorrow (Sunday), put on their work boots, and start from scratch."

On the remainder of the regular season:
"We're still in it; we have a few more games left, same with them so you never know what goes on."

On the mood of the post-game locker room:
"Of course everybody is disappointed, but I take it as a lesson. The fact that we know what type of team we are and we know the feeling. Once you begin winning, it becomes a habit."
