Cullowhee, N.C. -
Due to unfavorable weather forecasts that includes rain and thunderstorms across Western North Carolina through the afternoon, Tuesday's nonconference baseball game between mountain rivals Western Carolina and UNC Asheville originally scheduled for 4:00 pm has been cancelled.
Deteriorating weather conditions across the region throughout the afternoon on Tuesday prompted officials to make the call on cancelling the game. Currently, no make-up date has been announced.
Western Carolina travels to Greenville, N.C., to open an eight-game road swing with this weekend's Keith LeClair Classic. The Catamounts face No. 9 East Carolina (4-3) on Friday at 4:30 pm; arch-rival Appalachian State (4-3) at Noon on Saturday; and No. 18 St. John's (7-1) on Sunday at 11:00 am. On Monday, WCU rekindles the series with in-state foe, North Carolina State (4-2). First pitch against the 10th-ranked Wolfpack is scheduled for 2:00 pm on March 6.
