CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball fell 50-32 to Samford on Senior Day in the Catamounts' final home game of the 2017-18 season in the Ramsey Center.

The Catamounts did not score in double figures in any of the four periods and only hit 11 field goals in the game. Though Samford hit just four more field goals than the Western Carolina, connecting on 15, the Bulldogs benefitted from 18 trips to the free throw line hitting 15.

Western Carolina had 18 turnovers in the game and shot just 26.2 percent from the field. The Catamounts did not have a player score in double figures.

Senior Sherae Bonner led the way for WCU with nine points, nine rebounds and a pair of blocks. Samford's Samantha Fitzgerald, Raven Omar and Natalie Armstrong each scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Turning Point
Down by two points, 20-18, with 4:03 left in the second period, Western Carolina went on a scoring drought that lasted over six minutes which spanned the end of the second and to start the third allowing Samford to build a 10-point lead. Western Carolina would never get closer the remainder of the game.

Individual Leaders
- Bonner had nine points, nine rebounds, two blocks and an assist for Western Carolina.
- Nikki Johnson ended the game with six points off a pair of three-pointers. - Fitzgerald, Williams, and Armstrong each had 10 points for Samford.
- The Bulldogs' Hannah Nichols ripped down 13 rebounds.

Inside the Box Score
- Western Carolina connected only had 11 field goals in the game which was a season-low. d
- The Catamounts failed to score in double digits in any of the four periods ending the game scoring seven points in the third and fourth period.
- WCU shot a frosty 26.2 percent from the field a season-low for the Catamounts.
- Western Carolina had 18 turnovers in the game which Samford turned into 13 points.
- Samford pulled down 39 rebounds to Western Carolina's 31.

News & Notes
- Western Carolina's 32 points against Samford was a season-low in scoring for the Catamounts.
- With nine rebounds against Samford, Bonner now has 855 and continues to rank sixth in the WCU record books.
- Bonner added two blocks to her career total and now has 136. She now needs eight blocks to take over the top spot in the WCU record books from former Catamount Shauna Terry who ended her career with 143.
