Cullowhee, N.C. -
Due to unfavorable weather forecasts on Wednesday, Feb. 28, the midweek nonconference baseball game between mountain rivals Western Carolina and UNC Asheville has been postponed. Both teams will look to reschedule the game at a later date.
Forecasts show rain starting across Western North Carolina early Wednesday morning and continuing at a high percentage through the day and even into Thursday, prompting WCU officials to make the schedule change.
Wednesday’s meeting was slated to be the frontend of a midweek, nonconference home-and-home between the Catamounts and the Bulldogs. The two teams are scheduled to meet in Asheville at historic McCormick Field on Wednesday, April 4 as a part of UNCA’s Vs. Cancer game with donations collected at the game going to the Vs. Cancer Foundation to help battle childhood cancer.
Western Carolina (1-6) faces rival Appalachian State (2-4) this (Tuesday) afternoon at 4:00 pm in Cullowhee before hitting the road this weekend in nonconference play against the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals. Each game of the Louisville series will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra and available through WatchESPN.com.
