CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis concluded the WCU Invite in a rain-shortened final day Sunday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

The Catamounts' singles matches against Longwood were canceled due to the rain. WCU, did, however, get its singles matches in against North Carolina A&T and one of two doubles against Brenau.

WCU won four of five singles contests against North Carolina A&T. Jacy Smith and Jordyn King remained unbeaten in fall play as both improved to 5-0. King moved up to No. 2 singles and won 6-1, 6-0 while Smith dropped down to No. 3 singles winning 6-1, 6-0 as well. Senior Jordan Strickland got a win at No. 1 singles 6-4, 7-6 (5) and rookie Emily Elliott picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles.

Elliott and Strickland paired up at No. 1 doubles winning 6-3 against Brenau. Smith and King were tied 5-5 at No. 2 doubles but the game was abandoned.

Western Carolina will play its first road matches of the fall when members of the Catamount team will compete at the ITA Regionals Oct. 24-28 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
