CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina plays its final pair of home matches this weekend hosting The Citadel at 7 p.m. Friday and Mercer at 6 p.m. Sunday. Seven seniors Ashton Cannon, Jordan Dawsey, Kate Swartwout, Emily Threatt, Julia Winter, Mackenzie Wright, and Emily Zipay will be honored prior to the match against Mercer on Sunday.
AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
- Western Carolina will look to get back on the winning track after the Catamounts have lost three of its last five matches.
- Each of the Catamounts' Southern Conference wins have been on the road and WCU is looking to log a pair of conference wins this weekend at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
- Six different Catamounts have scored two or more goals this season and a total of 10 different Catamounts have scored at least one WCU's 18 goals on the year.
- Rookie goalkeeper Melody Mezzina is a legitimate candidate for SoCon Freshman of the Year. She is the only SoCon freshman goalie to have six wins and four shutouts and that mark is also the most by a Catamount freshman goalkeeper in 12 years.
- Western Carolina and The Citadel meet for the 19th time on Friday. The Catamounts have won eight-straight against the Bulldogs and are 8-1-1 at home. The last Citadel victory over WCU came Sept. 24, 2010, in Cullowhee when the Bulldogs won 2-1. In the last eight games, Western Carolina has outscored The Citadel 22-5 with four shutouts.
- Western Carolina and Mercer meet for the eighth time on Sunday with the Bears holding a slight advantage having won four to Western Carolina's three in the all-time meetings. The Catamounts have won two of the last three matches including a 1-0 double-overtime win in Macon, Ga. in 2018. In the two team's last meeting in Cullowhee, the Bears came away with a 4-2 win in 2017. All three of Western Carolina's wins over Mercer have coming in Macon.
AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CITADEL:
- The Citadel is 5-6-2 and 1-4 in SoCon play with the lone win coming at VMI.
- The Bulldogs are looking to halt a three-match losing slide having been shutout in two of those three matches.
- Logan Dix leads the Bulldogs scoring five goals and adding one assist on the year. Seven different Citadel players have scored two or more goals.
- The Citadel has played four different goalkeepers on the year led by Maddie Somogyi who has played in nine matches allowing 15 goals, recording 44 saves, notched three shutouts and has a record of 3-3-2.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT MERCER:
- Mercer will match-up with ETSU on Friday before traveling to Cullowhee to play Western Carolina on Sunday.
- The Bears record is 12-2 and 4-1 in SoCon play before their match at ETSU.
- Mercer's lone SoCon loss came Sept. 29 when the Bears lost to UNCG 2-0.
- Both of Mercer's losses on the season have been by shutout.
- Mercer halted Samford's consecutive SoCon match win streak on Oct. 13 defeating the Bulldogs 1-0 to end their streak at 30.
- Nicole Icen leads the Bears with nine goals and two assists. Amaya Evans is just behind her with seven goals.
- Jordyn Ebert is Mercer's top goalie having played in 14 matches and started 13. She has allowed 12 goals, recorded 71 saves, notched five shouts and has a record of 10-2.
