Cullowhee, N.C. – With the 2019 season in full swing, Catamount Athletics announces details for Heroes Day 2019, Military and First Responder Appreciation Day on Saturday, Nov. 9. It will be a full day starting with the men's basketball home opener at noon, against NCAA Tournament participant Gardner-Webb. Following the basketball game, fans can make their way outside to the fun and festivities of Heroes Day prior to kickoff of the Blue Ridge Border Battle between Western Carolina and ETSU at 3:30 p.m.
All first responders and military members will receive free admission to both the basketball and football games. Family members have the opportunity to purchase a discounted ticket. All Catamount fans can enjoy free admission to the basketball game when they present their November 9th football ticket to the ticket office.
Catamount Athletics will be hosting Tailgate Town Heroes Day edition. The area will officially be open at noon and is located in parking lot 9A in front of the Ramsey Center. First responders and military members that check-in will receive a specialty WCU Heroes Day button. Fans can engage with different military branches and fan experience pieces these groups offer. Branches confirmed to be in attendance at this time include the US Army and the US Navy. The American Legion as well as the Fallen Heroes Ministry will also be represented.
There will be other elements incorporated throughout the entire day with additional details forthcoming.
