Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina men's basketball is just over two weeks out from its season opener on November 5 at Georgia. The Catamounts had a week of competitive practices during Fall Break and are off Sunday before getting back on the court next week.

In the second of the men's basketball “Get to Know” series, #CatamountCountry is being introduced to Jason McMillan, a senior guard from Cherokee, N.C.

McMillan: Chocolate.

McMillan: Panther

McMillan: Playing Golf.

: I can't dunk.

McMillan: Respectful, competitive, relatable.

 

What motivates you to work hard?

McMillan: My son and family.

 

What is something you always love doing, even when you are tired or rushed? Why?

McMillan: Spending time with my son or fishing with my brothers.

McMillan: My son, Braison

 

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

McMillan: A Major League Baseball player.

 

What was the best advice you were ever given?

McMillan: “Never be satisfied”

 

If you weren't playing basketball, what sport would you have played in college?

McMillan: Baseball.

 

What position do you play- and what is the one key thing to know about playing that position?

McMillan: Point guard. Knowing everyone's position on plays.

 

One major goal for the 2019 season?

McMillan: Winning the Southern Conference championship.

 

What made you choose Western Carolina University?

McMillan: The atmosphere. I enjoyed the idea of smaller classes. Great players and people.

 

What has been your favorite class to take at WCU?

McMillan: Health class.

 

What's your favorite part about being a student-athlete at Western Carolina?

McMillan: The amount of support we receive from our academic advisors.

 

What's the most challenging thing about being a student-athlete at Western Carolina?

McMillan: Trying to get food in between classes, study hall, and practice.

 

What is your favorite thing about home games in Cullowhee?

McMillan: The fans and competing to protect home court.

McMillan: It means I have pride in being a Catamount.

McMillan: “

McMillan:

McMillan: My teammates.
