Johnson City, Tenn. – The Western Carolina indoor track & field team claimed two field event wins along with a win in the men's 4x400-meter relay as the Catamounts wrapped up the ETSU Invitational on Saturday.
Kinley Drummonds won the women's pole vault after clearing a height of 3.60 meters (11'9.75"). Drummonds claims an individual event win for the third time in her career and second at the MSHA/ETSU Athletics Center after winning the 2019 Buccaneer Invitational.
Makaila McIntyre was the runner-up in the women's 60-meter dash as she broke the tape with a time of 7.79.
Lesleigh Tabor and
Rachel Rouse finished second and third, respectively in the women's shot put. Tabor's best throw measured 13.34 meters while Rouse topped out at 12.92 meters (42'4.75").
Kellsie Whitehead finished third in the women's 200-meter dash with a finishing time of 25.69.
Carter Unger placed fourth in the women's pole vault after she cleared 3.40 meters (11'1.75").
Marissa Blakely, Dominiq Delisser,
Mekyll Robinson, and Whitehead combined to record a second-place finish with their time of 3:54.74. The women's distance medley relay team of
Siena Gates,
Lauren Prusacki,
Lauren Esselborn, and
Shawnda Martin teamed up to finish in second place with a time of 13:17.97.
Ryan Eldridge was the winner of the men's shot put thanks to his throw of 15.34 meters (50'4"). Eldridge claimed his first career event win as a result of the indoor personal best throw.
Devaniel Dale,
Michael Harris,
Jevon Leonard, and
David Miles combined to win the men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:20.56. Of the four student-athletes making up the relay team, Dale is the only one who is not a freshman.
Dale was the runner-up in the men's 200-meter dash after completing the race with a time of 22.01.
Jevon Leonard finished fourth in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.72.
Dakota Oxendine placed third in the men's high jump after he cleared a height of 2.03 meters (6'7.75").
Shon Pratcher finished third in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.11 meters (23'4").
Tyler Hanks finished fifth in the men's high jump, topping out at 1.95 meters (6'4.75").
Jay Stanley finished fifth in the men's shot put after recording a throw of 14.41 meters (47'3.50").
In the men's distance medley relay,
Andrew Edney,
Terry Young,
Fuad Hassan, and
Justin Tucker placed third with a time of 11:02.45.
Following an off weekend, the Catamounts make the first of three visits to VMI and the Corps Physical Training Facility on Jan. 25 for the VMI Team Challenge.
