Pierre Viallaneix led WCU in 14th, Magnus Pederson with WCU’s best final-round score

College Grove, Tenn. – Sophomore Magnus Pedersen carded Western Carolina's best final-round score with an even-par 72 on Tuesday while classmate Pierre Viallaneix paced the Catamounts by finishing tied for 14th as play concluded at the Intercollegiate at The Grove. WCU slipped one spot into 11th place overall with a two-day total of 596.

Pedersen charted five birdies on Tuesday as a part of his even-par round of 72, climbing 25 spots in the final standings to finish among eight others in a nine-way tie for 29th overall. The Moss, Norway, product rallied from consecutive bogeys just four holes into his final round to make the turn to the front nine at 1-under after a trio of birdies over a five-hole stretch. Two more birdies among his first four holes in heading for home left him 3-under par for the round with five holes to play. However, three bogeys relegated him to even for the round, 4-over 148 for the event.

Viallaneix slid eight spots in the individual standings in the final round, following-up his 2-under par round of 70 on Monday with a 2-over round 74 in the final 18. Even-par through the first eight holes on the day, the Apopka, Fla., native bogeyed the par-5 18th to make the turn for home at 1-over. Over his final nine holes, Viallaneix countered three bogeys with a pair of birdies for the 74 to give him a two-day score of even-par, 144.

Freshman Presten Richardson finished tied for 50th overall (151) following his 2-over par 74 on Monday with a 5-over 77 on Tuesday. Junior Tumi Kúld advanced five spots into a tie for 60th with a 4-over 76 Tuesday for a two-round score of 153. Kúld was 1-under par at the turn with eight pars and a birdie on the par-4 16th before playing the front nine at 5-over par.

Rounding out WCU's scorers were junior Louis Theys in a tie for 71st at 157 (78-79) and sophomore Quinton Metz in 84th at 167 (82-85).
