CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina head track & field coach Jesse Norman today announced the hiring of Greg Lambert as an assistant coach where he will primarily work with the team's sprinters. During his career, Lambert has worked with over 100 Academic All-Americans, 17 All-Americans, numerous conference champions as well as Olympian Gemma Acheampong who competed in the 4x100 meter relay for Ghana at the 2016 Rio de Janiero Olympics. Acheampong is a national record holder for that relay event.

"The Catamount track & field program is very excited to announce the hiring of Greg Lambert to the coaching staff," said Norman. "Greg joins the Catamount coaching staff with strong experience in the sprint and hurdles event groups. He has coached at a high level. During the interview process, Greg quickly rose to the top of our candidate pool with his passion, excitement, energy level and belief that the track program here can do some special things in the future."

Norman added, "I strongly feel that with Greg leading our sprints/hurdles group we will be able to put the track program into a strong position to win Southern Conference team titles in the future. I'm looking forward to introducing Greg, along with his fiancé Paula and son Antonio to Catamount Nation."

Lambert arrives in Cullowhee after serving as the head coach at NCAA Division III-member Wesley College in Dover, Del. He mentored three All-Americans, 13 section qualifiers, and two Team USA qualifiers. The Terriers set 10 new school records during his tenure.

In addition to Boston University, Lambert has also been an assistant coach at SEC-member Mississippi, Georgetown, Richmond, American, Coppin State, and Delaware State. He also worked with the 5 Star Track Club where he was the Director of Track & Field for 5 Star North.
