LEXINGTON, Va. – The Western Carolina indoor track & field teams recorded two individual event wins and a new school record in the men's 500-meter dash Saturday as the Catamounts concluded the VMI Indoor Classic at the Corps Physical Training Center.
Makaila McIntyre won the women's long jump, recording a top distance of 5.86 meters (19'2.75"). It is McIntyre's third win in the long jump this season.
Victoria Solheim finished third in the women's weight throw with a top distance of 17.03 meters (55'10.50").
Lesleigh Tabor recorded a sixth-place result in the event with a throw of 16.16 meters (53'0.25").

Tatiana Mills teamed up to finish in third place in the women's 4x400-meter relay, crossing the finish line in 3:54.48.
Ronje Williams finished seventh in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.57 meters (18'3.25").
Mills placed ninth in the women's 500-meter dash, finishing with a personal best time of 1:19.73.
Devaniel Dale led a 1-2-4 WCU finish in the men's 500-meter dash. Dale won the race with a new school record time of 1:04.40, edging out runner-up
Chace Washington-Saunders who crossed the finish line in second at 1:04.44.
Jevon Leonard finished fourth, completing the race in 1:05.95.
In the men's 4x400-meter relay,
Michael Harris, Washington-Saunders,
Jevon Leonard and Dale finished in second place with a time of 3:14.87.
Tyler Hanks finished fourth in the men's long jump with a personal best leap of 7.11 meters (23'4").
Di'Joun Huitt placed sixth thanks to his top mark of 6.99 meters (22'11.25").
Charles Cooley finished fifth in the men's pole vault elite section, clearing a personal best height of 4.65 meters (15'3").
John Retenbach placed ninth after he cleared a height of 4.35 meters (14'3.25").
Mike Jones finished fifth in the men's 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.36 seconds.
Hanks scored his second top-10 finish of the day in the men's high jump elite section, finishing sixth after clearing a height of 1.95 meters (6'4.75").
Brandon Harvey finished 10
th, topping out at 1.90 meters (6'2.75").
WCU turns its attention to the Southern Conference Indoor Championships on February 29-March 1 at the Corps Physical Training Center. The WCU men have won the past six team titles while the women's team has finished as the runner-up in both of the last two seasons.
