Marshall Records Double-Double in Win over South Carolina State

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Redshirt sophomore Nadia Marshall recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in Western Carolina women's basketball's 53-43 win over South Carolina State Tuesday in the Ramsey Center. 
 
Turning Point:
Western Carolina scored the first 14 points of the game and staved off South Carolina State in the second quarter, outscoring the Catamounts 19-12 and cutting the WCU lead to seven, 37-24 at the half. The Bulldogs cut the Catamount lead to seven two more times, in the third quarter, 12-0 run from the end of the third to the start of the fourth – WCU never led by less than double-figure points the remainder of the game. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Freshman Zanoria Cruz scored a game-leading 19 points hitting 8-of-12 from the field.
  • Marshall's double-double, 12 points, and 11 rebounds – her second double-double of the season. 
  • Kyla Allison just missed a double-double with eight points and eight rebounds.
  • Trinity Klock led South Carolina State with 12 points. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Western Carolina shot a scorching 61.5 percent from the field in the first quarter.
  • The Catamounts held South Carolina state to five points in the first quarter. Western Carolina also held the Bulldogs to single-digit scorings in the third quarter – seven points.
