Bluffton, S.C. – The Western Carolina women's golf team was tied for third after Friday's stroke-play portion of the Battle at Old South being contested at the par-72, 6,-74-yard Old South Golf Links. The Catamounts earned the No. 3 seed in Saturday's two-rounds of match play, first squaring-off against sixth-seed Jacksonville.
 
Senior Maya White and junior Madison Isaacson led the Catamounts on Friday, both with matching scores of 7-over par 79 in a tie for 12th overall. Senior Harper Gilreath was a stroke in arrears at 80, tied for 17th on the individual leader board while classmate Cameron Wood sat tied for 26th at 11-over par 83.
 
Freshman Vanessa Campos shot 84 to sit tied for 28th followed by sophomore Victoria Ladd in a tie for 31st with an 85 to round out WCU's scoring side.
 
Tournament co-host Florida International led second-place Coastal Carolina after the individual stroke-play portion of the event, shooting 15-over par 303 while the Chanticleers were at 19-over, 307. FIU earned a first-round bye in the start of match-play. WCU was tied with co-host Cincinnati and Charleston Southern in third with matching scores of 321, with Jacksonville (322) and USC Beaufort (340) rounding out the seven competing teams.
 
Match-play began on Saturday morning and continues through the day with the final round of match-play set for Sunday.
