Bluffton, S.C. – Western Carolina women's golf finished sixth at the spring season-opening Battle at Old South, dropping its fifth-place match to Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon, 4 1/2 to 1 1/2.

Coastal Carolina downed event co-host Florida International on Sunday to win the team championship, relegating the Panthers to the runner-up. Charleston Southern finished third by defeating Jacksonville which placed fourth. Cincinnati earned fifth by downing WCU, with USC Beaufort finishing seventh following Saturday's matches.
Western Carolina returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 28 in the first of three rounds at the Kiawah Island Classic at the Cougar Point and Oak Point Golf Courses on Kiawah Island, S.C.
