CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Western Carolina volleyball team opens the Southern Conference portion of its 2020-21 season on Monday and Tuesday as the Catamounts head to The Citadel for a pair of matches against the Bulldogs. The teams will square off on Monday at 5 p.m. and Tuesday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ (
paid subscription required).
WCU is 0-2 on the year after dropping a pair of matches at Clemson last Saturday. The Tigers recorded a 3-0 win in the afternoon match and a 3-1 win in a hard-fought evening match. Junior

The Citadel is 2-3 after playing four matches in the fall semester including two nonconference meetings with Mercer, and match-ups against both Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Bulldogs, who had their designated open weekend in the first conference round of the season, opened the spring schedule at home against College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon, downing the crosstown rival Cougars, 3-1.
The Catamounts and Bulldogs have met 40 times on the court with WCU holding a 32-8 lead in the all-time series. WCU swept the season series a year ago, taking a 3-0 win in Cullowhee on Oct. 11 and a 3-1 victory in Charleston on Nov. 9.
WCU remains on the road next weekend, traveling to Samford for a pair of matches on Sunday, Feb. 7, and Monday, Feb. 8.
