Catamounts host final pair of regular season matches next weekend

Location: Summers-Taylor Stadium, Johnson City, Tenn.  
 
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Western Carolina women's soccer dropped its Saturday evening match at ETSU 1-0 at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
 
Individual Leaders:
  • The Buccaneers' Jocelyn Nehls scored the lone goal in the match. 
  • Freshman Kirsten Hahn had five shots in the contest. 
  • ETSU goalkeeper Shu Ohba kept the Catamounts out of the net with seven saves in the match. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Western Carolina had 19 shots in the match, 10 in the first half, but just couldn't find the back of the net. ETSU ended the night with six shots.
  • ETSU scored in the 63rd minute. 
  • Junior goalkeeper Melody Mezzina took the loss in goal falling to 6-3-1 on the year as she gave up one goal and had two saves. 
  • In the last breath attempt, Katelyn Gailbrath had a shot in the 89th minute but an ETSU team save kept the Catamounts off the scoreboard. 
 
 News & Notes:
  • Western Carolina's road match halts a three-match winning streak and a five-match winning streak on the road.
  • In its three-match road swing, in conference play, WCU went 2-1. 
  • With the goal allowed against ETSU, Mezzina has given up six goals on the season. 
  • The loss to ETSU halts a two-match winning streak over ETSU. 
 
 UPCOMING:
  • Western Carolina will have a five-day break before returning home to host its final pair of home matches of the regular season. The Catamounts welcome Samford at 7 p.m. Friday and Chattanooga at 2 p.m. Sunday.
