Catamount Volleyball Adds Blue, Morris for 2022 Season

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina volleyball head coach Karen Glover today announced the addition of two student-athletes for the 2022 volleyball season. Glover has added middle blocker/opposite hitter Janelle Blue and outside hitter Ali Morris to her roster for next season during the signing period.

"I am really excited to add these two student-athletes to our Western Carolina volleyball family," said Glover. "They are both great athletes that will keep moving our program forward in our quest for conference championships."

Janelle Blue – MB/Opposite – Clover, S.C. (Clover HS / Carolina Juniors)
Blue arrives in Cullowhee after playing at Clover High School under the direction of head coach Danielle Randolph. As a senior, Blue was a member of a Clover team that posted a 12-6 record and reached the second round of the SCHSL 5A state playoffs. She earned All-Region III honors as well as both Athlete of the Month and Student of the Month honors. Blue plays club volleyball for Carolina Juniors and head coach Ralph Viegelmann.

"Janelle is an extremely physical player and her presence at the net will add to our already talented group at either the middle or opposite position," said Glover.

Ali Morris – OH – Knoxville, Tenn. (Grace Christian Academy / Club 18 Unite National)
Morris heads to WCU following a scholastic career at Grace Christian Academy (GCA) where she played for head coach Maddi Trent. While at Grace Christian, Morris earned All-District honors every year and was a three-time All-Region performer as a freshman, sophomore, and senior. During her senior season, Morris recorded 542 kills and 303 digs to earn district MVP honors and graduates as the GCA program leader in kills after the Rams finished the season as the district runner-up. She was named to the AVCA All-Region team and was an AVCA honorable mention All-American. A strong performer in the classroom, Morris is a member of the AVCA Best and Brightest as well as the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Ali plays club volleyball for Club Unite 18 National and head coach Abbie McFarlane.

"Ali is a strong 6 rotation outside hitter that will definitely add to our outside position group," said Glover. "I think she will be an exciting player to watch and make a big impact in the SoCon."
