Track & Field Announces 2021-22 Schedule

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina track & field head coach Jesse Norman today announced a 15-event schedule consisting of seven indoor meets and eight outdoor meets for the Catamounts for the 2021-22 track & field season. The schedule is highlighted by hosting the Catamount Classic on April 15-16, 2022 at the on-campus Catamount Athletics Complex.
 
The indoor season begins on Friday, Dec. 3 as WCU makes the short trip to the Clemson Opener in the squad's only competition before the winter break. After the holidays, WCU resumes the season on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Mondo College Invitation at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem. Additional January meets include the Brant Tolsma Invitational hosted by Liberty on Jan. 20-22 in Lynchburg, Va., and the South Carolina invite hosted by South Carolina in Columbia Jan. 28-29.
 
After a weekend off to begin February, WCU heads to Lexington, Va. for the VMI Winter Classic on Feb. 11-12 and returns to VMI's Corps Physical Training Center for the Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship on Feb. 26-27. The indoor season wraps up at the NCAA Championship in Birmingham, Ala., on March 11-12 at the Birmingham Sportplex.
 
WCU jump starts the outdoor season at the Yellow Jacket Invite, hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta on March 18-19 followed a trip to the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State the next weekend. The Catamounts head to the Florida Relays on March 31-April 2 before splitting up and heading to both the Duke Invitational in Durham and Aggie Invitational in Greensboro April 7-9. WCU hosts the Catamount Classic in its final tune-up before the SoCon Championship in Birmingham, Ala. April 30-May 1.
 
The NCAA East Preliminaries are scheduled for May 26-28 in Bloomington, Ind. followed by the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. June 8-11.
