Allison Pours in 23 in Loss at Chattanooga

Catamounts travel to Furman next weekend

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Redshirt junior Kyla Allison led all scorers with 23 points in Western Carolina women's basketball's 72-58 loss to Chattanooga Saturday in McKenzie Arena. 
 
Turning Point:
Redshirt sophomore Nadia Marshall got into foul trouble early in the first half, and after trailing by just four, 18-14, in the first quarter, Western Carolina was held to seven points in the second quarter outscored 13-7. The Catamounts also battled through 23 turnovers that led to 17 Mocs points. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Allison was 10-of-13 from the field scoring 23 points and dished out six assists.
  • Lauren LaPlant added 13 points for the Catamounts draining a pair of three-pointers. 
  • Eboni Williams led Chattanooga with 22 points. 
  Inside the Box Score
  • In the fourth quarter, Western Carolina cut the Chattanooga lead to five twice, the last time after a Kyla Allison bucket to make the score 47-42 with 8:24 left. 
  • The Mocs went on a 10-2 run in four minutes in the fourth quarter to expand its five-point lead to 15, 59-44, and rode that run to a win. 
  • After not hitting a three-pointer against Chattanooga on Thursday, the Catamounts hit seven Saturday. The Mocs had four treys in the game. 
  • The Catamounts just edged the Mocs in field goal percentage 43.1 percent to 42.2 percent. 
  • The Catamounts ripped down 29 rebounds to Chattanooga's 27. 
  News & Notes
  • The 23 points scored by Allison is the second time this season she has scored 20 or more points in a game. 
  • Allison has scored in double figures nine times during the year. 
  • With a pair of three-pointers against Chattanooga, LaPlant has 159 in her career and moves into fourth place in the WCU record books.
