JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Western Carolina junior
Jamie Blaylock picked up both an individual and relay win on Friday as the Catamount track & field teams opened the Buccaneer Invitational at the ETSU Athletics Center.
Blaylock earned her first collegiate win as she finished in first place in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:40.62, nearly 10 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Along with Blaylock,
Kate Mattison,
Clara Root, and
Sydney Runyan teamed up to win the women's Distance Medley Relay with a time of 13:21.11.
In her first indoor meet of the season, Mattison scored a third-place finish in the women's mile run with a personal best time of 5:09.62 and also finished fifth in the men's 800-meter run at 2:24.23.
Lesleigh Tabor was the runner-up in the women's weight throw with a final distance of 15.69 meters (51' 4.7").
Drew Zink finished fourth in the men's mile with a time of 4:29.77. Joshua Stapleton was fifth in the men's 800 meters as he finished in 1:59.15. In field events,
Jay Stanley took fourth place in the men's weight throw with a top distance of 15.77 meters (51'7.4").
Saturday's action kicks off at 10 a.m. with the prelims of the women's 60-meter hurdles. Field events begin an hour later with the men's shot put. Live results will be available via a link on catamountsports.com.
