CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Western Carolina women's soccer dropped a 2-1 road match Sunday against Chattanooga at the UTC Sports Complex.
 
Turning Point:
After Western Carolina scored the first goal of the game, Chattanooga scored two unanswered goals, one in the first half and one in the second.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Maggie Lloyd scored the lone goal for the Catamounts – the first of her career.
  • Senior Regan Ward picked up an assist on Lloyd's goal notching her first of the season and giving her a team-leading five points. 
  • Emily Szymanski and Kendra Mueller each scored goals for the Mocs.
 
 
Inside the Box Score
  • At the 26:52 mark, Western Carolina scored the first goal of the game when Lloyd found the back of the net from an assist by Ward.
  • Just under a minute later Chattanooga tied the match from Szymanski goal and assist by Faith Gober.
  • The Mocs broke the 1-1 and took the lead in the second half, at 68:25, when Mueller scored from an assist by Shelby Hash.
  • Senior Natalia Icen got her first start of the season in goal notching five saves and allowing two goals and falls to 0-1 on the season.
  • Western Carolina had a total of nine shots in the match with eight in the second half.
  • Lloyd looked for her second goal of the game with two strong scoring chances in the second half but both were saved by Mocs' goalie Abbey Sadler.
