Victoria Ladd Posts Runner-Up Finish at Bobby Nichols

WCU posted a season-best finish of third-place

Sevierville, Tenn. – Sophomore Victoria Ladd tallied a career-best runner-up finish by carding a career-low 54-hole score of 217 to lead Western Carolina to a third-place showing at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday afternoon on the Highlands Course at the Sevierville Golf Club.
 
Ladd was one of two Catamounts to record a Top 10 finish as junior Madison Isaacson came home in a tie for sixth-place­ at the par-71, 5,803-yard course.
 
A product of Greensboro, N.C., Ladd carded a 3-over par 74 on Tuesday, countering three bogeys and a double-bogey with a pair of birdies, including capping the three-round event with a birdie on the par-3 18th. Ladd was 3-over par at the turn over the final 18 holes and played the back nine even-par to challenge for the individual championship. Ladd paced WCU with 36 pars – tied for second in the tournament field – and a team-best eight birdies.
 
Isaacson recorded her season-best finish, shooting 7-over par 78 on Tuesday to finish tied for sixth with a 54-hole score of 225. The third-year striker finished with 33 pars over the 54-hole tournament.
 
Senior Hazel Martin moved up two spots with a final-round 80 for a three-day score of 241 to finish tied for 34th overall. Her classmate Cameron Wood, who carded six birdies at the event, climbed seven spots into a tie for 49th with WCU's third-best final round score for WCU at 79. Senior Maya White finished tied for 40th overall with a final score of 243.
 
WCU led the tournament in par-4 scoring and carded two eagles by Isaacson and White.
 
Eastern Kentucky claimed the team championship honors with a three-round score of 890. Findlay rallied to the runner-up finish at 916, four-strokes ahead of the Catamounts in third at 920. Tusculum (923) finished fourth, with Northern Iowa (937) rounding out the top five.
 
EKU's Ragga Kristinsdottir claimed individual medalist honors by two strokes over Ladd, shooting 2-over par 215.
 
Western Carolina returns to action March 29-30 at the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate, hosted at the Pinehurst No. 6 in Pinehurst, N.C.
