Victoria Ladd paces WCU in a tie for 12th after 36 of 54 scheduled holes

Pinehurst, N.C. – Sophomore Victoria Ladd knocked six strokes off her second-round score on Monday to climb 12 spots into a tie for 12th overall, just two strokes outside of the top 10 with 18 holes to play at the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate. Ladd posted rounds of 79 and 73 for a 36-hole score of 152 at the par-72, 5,907-yard Pinehurst No. 6.
 
Western Carolina posted rounds of 316 and 313 collectively to sit seventh overall, 12 strokes outside of the top five entering the final 18 holes.
 
Ladd carded all three of her opening-day birdies in the second round, countering a pair of double-bogeys in shooting the 1-over par 73. Her first-round included five bogeys and one double. Senior Hazel Martin slipped four spots in the second round into a tie for 18th overall with consecutive 5-over par rounds of 77. Both of Martin's birdies came over the opening 18 holes. Ladd recorded a team-best 25 pars on Monday, one more than Martin who had 24.
 
Junior Madison Isaacson is a stroke back with a two-round score of 155, shooting 78 and 77 while carding a team-best four birdies on Monday. Rounding out the Catamount scoring five is senior Maya White in 48th overall at 168 and classmate Harper Gilreath in a two-way tie for 50th at 178, shooting six strokes better in her second round.
 
Rutgers and Southern Conference-foe UNCG sit tied atop the team leaderboard with matching scores of 599. St. John's, which held a one-stroke lead after 18 holes, slipped to third, two strokes off the pace at 601, with Boston College (612) and Morehead State (617) rounding out the top five teams.
 
Tara Bettle of UNCG leads the 53-golfer field with a two-round score of 4-under par, 140, and carries a six-stroke advantage into the final round.
 
The final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning with WCU's scoring five grouped together between the 14th and 15th holes on the back nine. Live scoring is available online through GolfStat with links at CatamountSports.com.
