 Inside the Box Score
  • The first half was scoreless with Western Carolina taking five shots.
  • The Keydet's only real scoring threat came in at the 18th minute when the goalkeeper Melody Mezzina was outside the goal and Whitney Edward-Robinson's shot just missed wide right.
  • Ward got the start in the second half and made her presence known. Mezzina booted the ball past the 50-yard line, Syska headed it to Ward who took it down the left side and took a booming shot from about the 20-yard line and it sailed into the right side of the goal past a diving VMI goalkeeper Sidney Swoope.
  • It wasn't a minute later Ward and Syska teamed up again for the second Catamount goal. Syska passed the ball to Ward from the 45- yard line. Ward rolled past the VMI defender, shooting past another Keydet and shooting it past the VMI goalkeeper.
  • Western Carolina earned a corner kick and turned it into a goal. Van Den Berg had the corner kick that sailed the ball to the left side of the goal and Kilgore headed the ball in.
  • Mezzina records her second shutout of the season and improves to 2-2 on the season and had one save.
