Johnson City, Tenn. – Western Carolina baseball's Southern Conference series finale at ETSU's Thomas Stadium scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled due to inclement weather and unfavorable weather forecasts through the day.
The series was originally scheduled for a single-game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday until officials at ETSU moved to a Friday twinbill which was split.
Zebby Matthews struck out seven without a walk over a four-hit complete game in WCU's 3-0 victory in game one. ETSU evened the series with a 7-1 win in Friday's nightcap.
Western Carolina (21-11, 9-4 SoCon) continues its road swing with four games in the Piedmont Triad next week, visiting former SoCon-member Elon on Wednesday at Latham Park with the first pitch at 7 p.m. The Catamounts then have a three-game series at UNCG next weekend scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
