CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Western Carolina track & field teams tallied one relay win and an individual top-five as the Catamounts sent select members of their sprint and relay event groups to the Lee University Last Chance on Saturday.
Kellsie Whitehead,
Mekyll Robinson,
Marissa Blakely, and
Dominiq Delisser teamed up to win the women's 4x400-meter relay with a season-best time of 3:43.79, the fourth-fastest time in program history.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team consisting of
Zae Smith,
Marcus Brown,
Tyler Manigault, and
David Miles opened track action for the meet and finished the race with a time of 42.01 to finish in eighth place. The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Blakely, Delisser, Robinson, and Whitehead posted a time of 46.96 for a fourth-place result.
Multiple relay members also competed as individuals. Whitehead was the runner-up in the women's 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 56.14. Robinson led three Catamount finishers in the women's 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in ninth with a time of 24.99. Each of the men's 4x100-meter relay runners ran in the 200-meter dash, led by Manigault with a time of 21.78 to finish in 17
th place.
WCU will be represented by
Makaila McIntyre and
Shon Pratcher at the Aggie Twilight on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. on Sunday.
