JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Western Carolina senior Shon Pratcher scored a 34th-place finish in the men's long jump at the NCAA East Preliminaries hosted by the University of North Florida on Wednesday afternoon.

Pratcher's top mark of 7.13 meters (23'4.25") came on his first attempt. On his second attempt, the Germantown, Wis., native posted a mark of 6.83 meters (22'5") before a foul on his third attempt. Following the completion of the first two flights, Pratcher ranked 12th in the overall standings. He entered the meet as the No. 39 seed out of 48 qualifying student-athletes in the event.

"I'm proud of Shon and that he beat his ranking coming into today," WCU head coach Jesse Norman said. "It's been a good experience for him at regionals and I'm glad that he was able to have this experience."
